Ingredients:

1 1/2 pounds ground beef (preferably 80% lean)

1 cup breadcrumbs

1/2 cup milk

1 large egg

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup ketchup, plus extra for topping

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (optional)

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, soak the breadcrumbs in milk for about 5 minutes until absorbed.

Add the ground beef, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, Italian herbs, and parsley to the bowl. Mix everything gently with your hands or a spoon until just combined—don't overmix to keep the meatloaf tender.

Transfer the mixture to the loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on the baking sheet. Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top of the loaf for a delicious glaze when baked.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-70 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the meatloaf is cooked through.

Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing – this helps it hold together and makes serving easier.

Serve warm with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or your favorite sides for a hearty and comforting meal.
